• Minimum of 1-2 years of teaching experience at the elementary level

• Knowledge Columbia Teachers College reading and writing workshop model

• Strong interpersonal and classroom management skills

• Ability to follow lesson plans and to meet the needs of all learners

Buckley Day Camp, located in Roslyn, NY, offers a traditional camp experience for tots through teens. Located on a beautiful, expansive 28-acre property with four outdoor swimming pools and three tennis courts among many other outdoor attractions. The campus also features a state of the art indoor, air conditioned facility that includes three gymnasiums.

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic camp group leader to oversee and engage children in a fun and safe camp environment. The camp group leader will be responsible for planning and implementing activities that promote personal growth, teamwork, and creativity among campers. This role requires strong leadership skills, a passion for working with children, and the ability to foster a positive atmosphere that aligns with our camp’s values. This position will entitle your children to attend camp at a significant discount of our regular rate!

Camp dates 6/30/25 – 8/22-25 Hours 8:30-4:30 M-F

Responsibilities

• Lead daily camp activities, including sports, arts and crafts, theater performances, and outdoor games.

• Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by maintaining an active presence during activities.

• Provide guidance and support to campers, encouraging their participation and helping them build confidence.

• Communicate effectively with parents regarding camper progress and any concerns that may arise.

• Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive camp experience.

• Act as a role model and manage a staff of 3-4 young adults and keep them motivated and engaged

Qualifications

• Experience working with children in settings such as camps, childcare, or babysitting is preferred.
• Strong background in childhood development principles is advantageous.
• Certification in first aid or CPR.
• Excellent communication skills to interact positively with children, parents, and fellow staff members.
• Ability to manage groups effectively while fostering an inclusive environment for all campers.
• A passion for outdoor activities and creative play is essential.
