Community Engagement

At Buckley Country Day School we believe that learning is at its best when students are exposed to stories and events that are different from their own. We make a deliberate effort to be proactive and responsive to dynamics that are the result of the intersection of diverse life experiences and see this as a valuable asset toward building an inclusive learning environment.

In the community that we mean to be:

  • every child, family, faculty and staff member feels valued, celebrated, and treated with fairness and respect;

  • all voices are heard;

  • the curriculum and programs include multiple perspectives to add to the prism through which our students experience their learning;

  • the cultural norms do not convey the very stereotypes and biases we do not want our graduates to harbor.

Buckley Country Day School believes in order to nurture a community of belonging, it requires ongoing engaged discussion around ways that we can support our students to be aware of the dimensions of our similarities and our differences and the ways they contribute to our identity.

Through our Community Engagement Meetings all members of the Buckley community are invited to explore topics around belonging.
