2024 Election Education and Debate

On Friday, November 1st, the Buckley community gathered in The Muran Theatre for an educational assembly about the upcoming 2024 presidential election that will take place on Tuesday, November 5th.

Buckley second graders shared some timely information about democracy and US elections, the electoral college, and described how each of us can participate in selecting our leaders. Most importantly, they reminded the audience to "go to your polling place on Tuesday and VOTE!" The Class of 2031 then performed a rousing rendition of "God Bless America" accompanied by Ms. Soyoung Chun on the piano, and conducted by Buckley's Music Director, Dr. Elizabeth Glennon.

After the applause died down, six members of the Class of 2025 took the spotlight for a respectful and nuanced debate of both the Republican and Democratic Party platforms. Two students presented information on the Republican Party platform, with two others presenting for the Democratic Party, covering topics like immigration, healthcare, the economy, and the environment. Paige S. and Carter T. acted as moderators and kept the discussion balanced and on time.

Congratulations to all of the Buckley students who presented and performed at our 2024 Presidential Election Assembly!
