Applying for Admission
We are delighted to welcome prospective families to campus for Open Houses and personal tours as we begin the admissions season for the 2026–2027 school year. Applications will open on September 1, 2025.

If you are considering Buckley for your child, we encourage you to attend an Open House or contact our Admissions Office at 516-627-1910 to schedule a personal tour. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so we recommend beginning the process early in the fall.
Buckley Country Day School is a Columbia University Teachers College affiliate school with a program that is accelerated and highly differentiated at all grade levels. Our educational philosophy and experience has led us to believe that our younger students are most successful at BCDS when their peer group is relatively close in age.
As a result, we have a strict cut-off date of September 1st for our Early Childhood grades:
Pre-Nursery (age 2 by September 1)
Nursery (age 3 by September 1)
Pre-K (age 4 by September 1)
Kindergarten (age 5 by September 1)

Pre-Nursery
Our Pre-Nursery program welcomes the youngest members of our Buckley community. Registrants to our PN program must be age two by September 1st of their entering year. The PN is registration only and does note require a student visit or assessment. The PN provides a gentle transition from home to school. Our two-year-olds are introduced to their first school experience in a loving and nurturing environment. We focus on separation, socialization and a happy, first school experience. The children learn to trust adults outside of their home and experience the joy of playing with their peers. Young children learn best through play. There is ample time for free choice play, both indoors and out, as well as more organized games and play. The children learn to take turns and to share. We foster early language skills, independence, creativity and imagination.
Families interested in our Pre-Nursery Program for 2-year-olds who are age two by September 1st of their entering year, may register for two, three, or five days per week by completing our registration form.
