Estonian Educators Visit Buckley Country Day School, a Model for Teaching Excellence

November 3, 2025

Buckley Country Day School welcomed three visiting educators from Estonia on Monday, November 3, as part of an ongoing international exchange focused on best practices in teaching and learning.

During their visit, the educators toured Buckley’s campus, observed classes, met with faculty and administrators to discuss instructional approaches and curriculum design, and learned more about Buckley’s student council over lunch with representatives from 5th through 8th grades.

“It was a great experience to share and engage in meaningful dialogue about Buckley’s approaches to teaching and learning with the visitors from Estonia,” said Lower School Dean and Reading Specialist Alana Gamber. “Back in 2020 when I traveled with Buckley teachers to Finland and Estonia, these conversations expanded my perspective and professional growth as an educator. It’s exciting to see international collaborations continue with new colleagues here at Buckley.”

Elizabeth Lyons, Head of the Lower School, noted the visitors’ enthusiasm and appreciation for the Buckley community. “Our visitors from Estonia thoroughly enjoyed their visit. They were so impressed with our building, our resources, and our academic programs—but most of all with the students they observed and spoke with,” she said. “One visitor remarked as she was leaving, ‘You are so lucky to be here.’”

The visit reflects Buckley’s ongoing commitment to global connections and professional collaboration that enhance teaching and learning across cultures.
