9th Annual March Madness Basketball Tournament A Success!
March 14, 2025
On Friday, the Buckley community welcomed back alumni and families for our 9th annual March Madness Basketball Tournament, bringing together former students, parents, and the Class of 2025 for an evening of competition, camaraderie, and school spirit. Current students, families, and faculty filled the gym, cheering on the players – click here for photos. The event was a perfect blend of friendly rivalry and nostalgia, with teammates reconnecting and creating new memories by the moment.
First, faculty and staff suited up to take on the Class of 2025. 8th graders put up a valiant effort, but were no match for the teachers that played their way to victory by the end of the game. Click here for photos.
Players from graduating classes 2016 to 2024 hit the court next, with a heated competition between Red and Blue team alumni. Showcasing their skills and love for the game in a series of fast-paced matchups, fun was had by all! Click here for photos.
The Red vs Blue competition continued in the following games between moms and dads. Parents benefited from two practice sessions held by Mr. Boyle, Buckley’s Athletic Director, in the weeks leading up to the games. Red moms were victorious (photos here), while Blue dads took home the W in the final game of the evening (photos here).
Buckley’s Student Council hosted two fundraisers at March Madness – a traditional Bake Sale (also open during lunchtime) and sold Buckley-branded socks. The proceeds – $2,500 thus far – will go toward the 8th grades class gift to the school. Socks are still on sale, and if you’d like to take home a pair of your own for $15, please reach out to Jennifer Chillianis.
Thanks to Athletic Director Brian Boyle and the entire PE staff for organizing a wonderful evening of athleticism and camaraderie; to Jennifer Chillianis, Dean Schlanger, and the Student Council for organizing the Bake Sale and Sock fundraiser; to all our parent volunteers for their Bake Sale donations and assistance; and to Suzanne Bossé in the Development Office and Chef Jacek for organizing food and refreshments for all.
Special thanks to all the enthusiastic athletes who played in a basketball game and supported this beloved tradition—see you on the court next year! 🏀💙❤️
